History

Mungo Homes started as a small privately-owned development and home building company in Columbia, South Carolina in 1954. Mungo entered the Triad market by way of acquiring Shugart Homes in 2019; both companies began as family-owned and operated businesses, so there was a natural alignment of company values, commitment to customer service, quality, innovative building and design, and community reinvestment. Now part of the Clayton Home Builder Group, Mungo Homes operates in 10 markets throughout the southeastern US.
